Dark and White Mages war over Lux Ultima, a sentient book granting world-altering power to its chosen master. Kai Draven, four-element mage, leaves his foster mentors to find his birth parents by a family crest. Saving the Solaryns from raiders, he senses a blood bond—lost kin. Seized by the Dark Mage Alliance, Kai bonds with Lux Ultima, passes its trials, awakens power, storms the Dark Temple, outwits a power-copying tyrant, frees both families, and reclaims his identity.
